Arando Haramosh Pass Trek connects the Haramosh Glacier and the stunning Kutwal Lake of Haramosh with Chogo Lungma glacier of Arando Shigar Valley in the North East of the Karakorum range. Laila Peak (6986m), Mani peak (6685m) and the Haramosh Peak (7409m) surrounds the area of Arando Haramosh La Trek,  You will start trekking at Arandu Shigar and ends at Kutwal Lake haramosh or Dassu near Sassi where the valley meets Gilgit Skardu road. The trek passes through the B.C of Laila peak starting from Bulocho.

Extreme crevasses of the glacier makes the Arando Haramosh la Trek even more challenging. That is the reason which create avalanches. The ascent is steep on the west side requiring the use of rope till Kutwal Lake haramosh.  Only experienced trekkers with mountaineering experiences are recommended or suggested to do this challanging Arando Haramosh Pass Trek.

Kutwal Lake

Kutwal Lake is a high-altitude lake located in the Haramosh valley of Gilgit district, in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. The valley of Haramosh is about 60 miles to the east of the district capital, Gilgit, furthermore Several high mountains, including Haramosh Peak, Laila Peak and Dobani Peak Surround the magical Kutwak lake.

Haramoah Pass Trek Overview:
  • First, the Arando Haramosh La trek begins from Doko and ends at Dassu near Sassi where the valley meets Gilgit – Skardu road
  • Second, The trek passes through the B.C of Laila peak starting from Bulocho.
  • Third The glacier on the upper reaches is full of crevasses, which increases the danger of avalanches therefore the ascent is steep on the west side requiring the use of rope.
  • In short It is a challenging trek Therefore is only suited to experienced trekkers with mountaineering experience.

DAY 01 ARRIVAL AT ISLAMABAD

Arrival Islamabad today. Today either you can relax or you can enjoy an exploratory walk in the old part of Rawalpindi; wander past the vegetable and spice markets, beautifully carved old houses and trucks, cows pestering the vegetable vendors, catch traditional craftsmen at work in silver and gold bazaars. You can explore ShakarParian to catch a bird's eye view of Islamabad. Our next stop will be Shah Faisal Mosque which is the landmark of Islamabad. This evening you will enjoy a welcome dinner.

DAY 02 ISLAMABAD – CHILAS/SKARDU

  • Total Duration: 12 Hours
  • OR Islamabad-Skardu via Air: (45mints)
We rise early to be at the airport in time for our flight to Skardu. If the weather is good, we'll be treated to one of the finest views available in the world of aviation, as we thread our way up the largest congregation of mountains of Karakoram, Hindu Kush, Himalaya and Indus River gorges, third longest in Asia and one of the deepest in the world. If the flight is unable to operate because of bad weather, we will resort to travel by road to Chilas. The drive is compensated by the beautiful scenery along highway and Indus gorges.

DAY 03 CHILAS – SKARDU OR FREE DAY AT SKARDU

  • Total Duration:                         10 Hours
This day may be needed to complete the KKH road journey from Chilas to Skardu. Alternatively, leaving Skardu today will enable us to enjoy an extra day of trekking in Skardu.

DAY 04 SKARDU REST DAY

Today we rise early and view the beautiful sunrise against the backdrop of the Karakoram. This day may be needed for logistics or for rest. Alternatively, leaving Skardu today will enable us to enjoy an extra day of trekking.

DAY 05 SKARDU - ARANDU

Total Duration: 06 – 07 Hours Today we rise early and view the beautiful sunrise against the backdrop of the Karakorum. After breakfast drive to Shigar, a history-soaked medieval town. There is also a heritage Palace cum Fort (Fong khar ). Completely renovated by the AKCSP a few years back, the Palace and its suburbs reflects a medieval look. Here we will pay a brief visit to the Garden House, Royal room, museum handicraft shop and The Khanqah Moalla, famous for its uniquely carved wooden windows and meditation cells. Shigar retains a mystical, medieval aura that may leave you feeling like you have stepped through the looking glas An exciting jeep journey takes us through the fields of the Shigar Valley via Niali, Gulabpur, and Tissar before the road narrows to a mountain track junction of Basha and Braldu valley, from here we will move left where we will go side by side of Basha River to Arindo. Enroute visit Choutron hot spring and brief break at Chutron.

Day 6 ARANDU – CHOGO BRANGSA CAMP

Total Duration: 06 – 07 Hours Arandu to Rbab Shalma (Lunch point): 03 hours RbabShalma to ChogoBrangsa (Campsite): 03 hours The first day of trekking along the Chogolungma glacier will take us to ChougoBrangsa in 5- 6 hours. . After climbing onto the snout of the Chogolungma Glacier the path follows the grassy ablation valley on the northern side of the Glacier. (3,330m). Porters will carry food and equipment from Arandu to base camp.

Day 07 CHOGO BRANGSA – BALUCHO

Total Duration: 07 – 08 Hours ChogoBrangsa to Khoromal(Lunch point): 04 hours Khoromal to Balucho (Campsite): 03 & half hours Today’s trek, crossing two subsidiary glaciers to the campsite of Bolocho Glacier, will be a long day of trekking, 7-8 hours walking along the northern side of Chogolungma glacier. (3,820m) Walk: 05-06 hrs, Grade: Moderate, Altitude: 4000 M

DAY 08 BALOCHO - LAILA BASE CAMP

Today is a strenuous trek across the moraine to the middle of the glacier. The Laila base camp is very special but few have dared to witness its beauty. Walk: 05-06 hrs, Grade: Moderate, Altitude: 4500 M

DAY 09 LAILA BC - FREE DAY

Free day to explore Laila Base camp. Walk: 08-09 hrs, Grade: Moderate, Altitude: 4500 M

DAY 10: LAILA BASE CAMP - HARAMOSH LA

We ascend the steep hillside for a couple of hours followed by walk on the Haramosh glacier where we keep continue walking several hours on virgin glacier. After 6 - 7 hours trek we will reach at the top of Haramosh La (4985). This is the highest point of our trek. Walk: 08-09 hrs, Grade: Strenuous, Altitude: 4985 M

DAY 11: HARAMOSH LA - HARAMOSH

Steep descents down in to the Haramosh valley where we traverse steep meadows and camp on meadows. It’s a very tranquil campsite. 4 to 6 hours trek. Walk: 05-7 hrs, Grade: Moderate, Altitude: 3700 M.

DAY 12: HARAMOSH - KUTWAL LAKE

It is moderate trekking down towards huts. We will walk amidst the shepherd’s houses. We reach the lake by noon, where we can do swimming and enjoy the sightseeing of Haramosh views. Walk: 04-05 hrs, Grade: Moderate, Altitude: 3500 M.

DAY 13: KUTWAL LAKE - ASKERE

We start trekking with steep descent through birch, pine and willow forests. Walk: 05-7 hrs, Grade: Moderate, Altitude: 3700 M.

DAY 14: ASKERE - SASSI

Today we resume trek with a gradual descend up to Sassi, beautiful valley in Northern area, famous for its variety of fruits and farms. Walk: 04-05 hrs, Grade: Moderate, Altitude: 3000 M

DAY 15 SASSI – GILGIT/ CHILAS

Today we leave Sassi early morning for Gilgit or Chilas as per agreed by the trekkers following the course of Indus and Gilgit Rivers. Drive: 06-07 hrs.

DAY 16 CHILAS – RAWALPINDI

Total Duration: 07 – 08 Hours This day will be used to transfer from Chilas to Islamabad by road or by aviation from Gilgit to Islamabad.

DAY 17 DEPARTURE RAWALPINDI/ISLAMABAD

Private transfer to Islamabad International Airport for your departure flight.

Trip booking procedure: Once you booked the desired Tour package with The Karakoram Ventures. We will sent you an email for the confirmation of you booking. After that we will sent you the detailed materials which will be really useful to understand even the minor details about your tour. You should have a passport at least valid for the next 6 months. The Karakoram venture will help you to get a Pakistani visa for that purpose you have to send us a Scanned image of your passport. We will sent you an invitation letter, addressing the nearest Pakistani Embassy. There are 2 different ways to apply for the tourist visa.
  1. The conventional way – Filling the visa form and submitting along with required documents in the nearest Pakistani Embassy or consulate.
  2. You can also fill the visa form Online at: https://visa.nadra.gov.pk/tourist-visa/ . You have to upload the required informations. It might take 8 – 10 working days.

Important Notes
Early Bird Discount
The given price for the trek is an early bird discount and will change after January. There will be an increase of US$ 80 every month after January. Our trekking holiday prices will not change once you have paid the deposit so the price when you book is the price you will pay. Register yourselves early to avoid increase in holiday prices. The given price for the trek is not negotiable unless you have a large private group.
Price discrimination
We strongly believe that foreign tourists should not pay more than locals. The reason for what may seem to be price discrimination is purely because of the additional and necessary services included as you will find under holiday information.
Deposit amount for Pakistani nationals
The deposit amount for Pakistani nationals is PKR 10,000 or 10% of total price, whichever is greater. The deposit amount is non-refundable and non-transferrable to other departures.
Refund policy
Deposit: Once paid, the deposit is non-refundable as it will be spent on making in-country arrangements. In case of visa rejection, a refund/partial-refund (if costs incurred) will be considered. In such cases, a valid proof of visa rejection must be submitted to our office within 72 hours of rejection. The deposit in non-refundable for Pakistani nationals in all cases.
Balance: Pay the balance amount on arrival in Pakistan on the first day.
Currency
All foreign tourists are charged in US Dollars (USD) while Pakistani tourists are charged in Pakistani Rupees (PKR).
Single Supplement
Separate hotel rooms (single supplement) will cost additional US$ 390. This includes all hotel nights. This payment should be made with the balance amount.
Separate tent (single tent) will cost additional US$ 160. This includes cost of additional porterage. This payment should be made with the balance amount upon arrival.

  • Reservations:
Reservations can be made by mailing. The Tour cost is strictly based on the itinerary and the total number of hotel and camp nights mentioned therein. If the trip has to be delayed due to bad weather, road washouts, canceled or delayed flights, sickness, Government restrictions or any other contingency for which “The Karakoram Ventures” cannot make provisions, the resulting extra cost for such delay is not included.
  • Form of payment:
Advance payment 30 % of the land cost for the booking confirmation will be accepted via online transfer or deposit to the Bank account of The Karakorum Ventures. Rest of the Payment only will be accepted only in cash or a certified cheque.
  • Cancellation & Refund:
Cancellation must be notified either by a phone call or by email to the mentioned email address of The Karakoram Ventures. Cancellation charges shall be levied as follows: 30 days before departure 25 % of the advance booking fee, 29 – 15 days before departure 50 % of the land cost, 14 to 1 day before departure 90% of the land cost. No refund will be given for any unused portion of the trip. The host reserves the right to cancel the trip without prior notice for any reasons deemed appropriate by them. In such a case the registered participants will receive a full refund.
  • Insurance:
Visitors are advised to get the insurance that covers cancellation, accidents, health emergency evacuation, helicopter rescue, and loss or damage of baggage and personal effects. This insurance must be arranged directly with your agent/insurance company.
  • Baggage:
Every member is entitled to bring a maximum weight of 15 kg (International clients) and 10 kg (national clients) of personal baggage. Any excess baggage portage will be charged separately.
  • Change of Itinerary:
Reasonable changes in the itinerary may be made only where deem advisable for the safety and comfort of the client.
  • Liability:
The Karakoram Ventures, its agents and employees will not be liable for any injury, death, damage, loss, accident, delay, theft, irregularity or acts of God, either by the acts of any company or person engaged in conducting the tour.
  • Responsibilities:
The Karakoram Ventures will provide transports, accommodations, meals and other necessary requirements which are mentioned in the tour itinerary.
  • Ethical Considerations:
Each participant should treat other Club member with respect, dignity, and honor. Use of violent behavior including altercation, insinuations of indecent kind, verbal and physical abuse and assault, aggravated behavior, or any other act amounting to unbecoming of member are strictly prohibited. Special respect for female members would be exercised. Sportsmen spirit shall be displayed at all times.
  • Drugs:
Using drugs or found party to drug sale or possession is strictly prohibited.
  • Team Work:
Our trip is expected to be an adventure trip and we will be camping using tents which will be erected with the help of the participants. All participants are expected to help each other to erect tents and to follow the instructions of Team Leader. It should be noted carefully that we will not use hotels for lodging until and unless we are facing unavoidable circumstances.
  • Cultural Considerations:
Photos and movies are permitted to be shot during our trip provided it is not objectionable to local people or any participant particularly females. These photos and movies are aimed for personal use only.
  • Environmental Care
All members would give due care for the local environmental care. Garbage (tins. Water bottles, wrappers, etc.) Shall be suitably disposed of without polluting water sources.
