Short Description:  The second-highest mountain in the world and often known as Savage Mountain. Towers majestically Beyond Concordia nearby God-win Austin Glacier offering an ice highway. Above all there are several high peaks, at the same time those are situated in this world’s largest temperate zone glacier. Interestingly except the highest or more prominent ones others are yet unnamed or unclimbed. However nineteen of these peaks in the Baltoro region over 7600m On the other hand four of them are 8000m.

 

There are a number of routes on K2, of a somewhat different character, but they all share some key difficulties. The first ascent route is known as the standard route or Abruzzi Ridge and used for more than any other route, via the Abruzzi Spur (Southeast Ridge). K2 was first attempted by Luigi Amedeo, Duke of the Abruzzi in 1909 but was first climbed by an Italian expedition on July 31, 1954, and our Permitted route is Abruzzi Ridge

Your attempt to climb K2 would start on day 12 and will continue for 35 days. It is important to note, however, that the number of days to climb K2 depends on the weather condition, and on your fitness and experience. After climb K2, we will also ensure that you return home safely to share your experiences with your loved ones. We pledge that we will keep no stone unturned in serving you during your attempt of climbing K2.

Tour Plan

1

Day 1: ARRIVAL AT ISLAMABAD

Arrival Islamabad today one of our staff will meet you at the airport and shift you to the hotel. Today either you can relax or you can enjoy an exploratory walk in Rawalpindi and Islamabad. This evening you will enjoy a welcome dinner with other trekkers.

Day 2: ISLAMABAD TO CHILAS / SKARDU

  • Total Duration: 12 Hours
  • OR Islamabad-Skardu via Air: (45mints)
We rise early to be at the airport in time for our flight to Skardu. If the weather is good, we'll be treated to one of the finest views available in the world of aviation If the flight is unable to operate because of bad weather, we will resort to travel by road to Chilas.

Day 03: CHILAS – SKARDU OR FREE DAY AT SKARDU

This day may be needed to complete the KKH road journey from Chilas to Skardu. Alternatively, leaving Skardu today will enable us to enjoy an extra day of trekking in Skardu.

DAY 04: SKARDU – ASKOLI

Today we rise early and view the beautiful sunrise against the backdrop of the Karakoram. An exciting jeep journey takes us through the fields of the Shigar valley before the road narrows to a mountain track leading to the trailhead at Askole, the last inhabitancy on our way to the great glaciers.

DAY 05: ASKOLI – JULA

  • Total Duration: 06 – 07 Hours
Today we leave the last inhabited village Askole. Porters are assembled to carry our luggage for the next section of the journey. After two and a half hour trek a long and uphill walk over a steep ridge along the Dumurdo River. Descend at Jula, (Wire Rope Bridge supported by a wooden basket) cross it and camp beside a torrent facing the Bakhordas peak

Day 06: JULA – PAJU

  • Total Duration: 06 – 07 Hours
Paju - is a Balti dialect word that means "SALT". Since there are some rock salt deposits at the base of this peak, the locals believe that the snow on the summit of Paju Peak is not snow but a huge deposit of salt which drips down to the base. From this camp, we have the first views of the impressive Baltoro Glacier.

Day 07: PAJU – KHOBURSAY – URDUKAS

Resume trek along the Braldu River to a green oasis under the shadows of Paju Peak, the last grove of trees before the trail moves onto the glacier. Follow the southern edge to Liligo and onward to Khobursay. we leave Kho-burse camp and walk mostly along the crest of lateral moraine towards Urdukas. This camp has superb views across the Baltoro Glacier to the Trango peaks, having a view of Paju Peak, Chorichi, UliBiaho, and Trango Tower and so on and is our last 'green grass' campsite.

Day 08: URDOKAS – GORO II

  • Total Duration: 06 – 07 Hours
A long walk on the icy Baltoro Glacier, Traveling on the glacier all the time now, it is an all-day walk over the boulder-strewn glacier to the campsite at Goro. Traverse the Yermanandu Glacier which flows down from Masherbrum & joins the Baltoro. Masherbrum is visible on the right side of the glacier, and Muztagh Tower on the left. Gasherbrum IV and Broad Peak can be seen directly ahead, as they catch the evening sunlight.

Day 09: GORO II – CONCORDIA – K2 BASE CAMP

  • Total Duration: 08 – 09 Hours
Trekking to the Concordia & K2 Base Camp, we pass through some of the most spectacular mountain scenery in the world; a huge junction of Baltoro, Abruzzi & Godwin Austin Glaciers at 4000 meters. Within a short radius of 15 Kilometers, stand 41 peaks over 6500 meters including 04 peaks above 8000 M. The 360 view offers a panorama of peaks nowhere to be found on this planet.
Concordia, the confluence of five glaciers, offers unprecedented views of the Karakoram peaks. Within a radius of nine miles rise 41 peaks above 21,000 feet, almost half of them still unnamed and unclimbed.

  Early in the morning fly to Islamabad, with clear skies we will be able to board a plane and be back at our hotel in Islamabad in 45 minutes. If the weather is not favorable, then we will have to drive by Karakoram Highway to Rawalpindi

DAY 60 RAWALPINDI/ISLAMABAD

Back in Rawalpindi we enjoy a final evening meal usually taken at one of traditional food streets either in Islamabad or in Rawalpindi. Upon arrival transfer to your hotel in Rawalpindi. Evening sightseeing. If unable to fly on day 18th, this day will be use to transfer from Chilas to Islamabad by road.

Trip booking procedure: Once you booked the desired Tour package with The Karakoram Ventures. We will sent you an email for the confirmation of you booking. After that we will sent you the detailed materials which will be really useful to understand even the minor details about your tour. You should have a passport at least valid for the next 6 months. The Karakoram venture will help you to get a Pakistani visa for that purpose you have to send us a Scanned image of your passport. We will sent you an invitation letter, addressing the nearest Pakistani Embassy. There are 2 different ways to apply for the tourist visa.
  1. The conventional way – Filling the visa form and submitting along with required documents in the nearest Pakistani Embassy or consulate.
  2. You can also fill the visa form Online at: https://visa.nadra.gov.pk/tourist-visa/ . You have to upload the required informations. It might take 8 – 10 working days.

Important Notes
Early Bird Discount
The given price for the trek is an early bird discount and will change after January. There will be an increase of US$ 80 every month after January. Our trekking holiday prices will not change once you have paid the deposit so the price when you book is the price you will pay. Register yourselves early to avoid increase in holiday prices. The given price for the trek is not negotiable unless you have a large private group.
Price discrimination
We strongly believe that foreign tourists should not pay more than locals. The reason for what may seem to be price discrimination is purely because of the additional and necessary services included as you will find under holiday information.
Deposit amount for Pakistani nationals
The deposit amount for Pakistani nationals is PKR 10,000 or 10% of total price, whichever is greater. The deposit amount is non-refundable and non-transferrable to other departures.
Refund policy
Deposit: Once paid, the deposit is non-refundable as it will be spent on making in-country arrangements. In case of visa rejection, a refund/partial-refund (if costs incurred) will be considered. In such cases, a valid proof of visa rejection must be submitted to our office within 72 hours of rejection. The deposit in non-refundable for Pakistani nationals in all cases.
Balance: Pay the balance amount on arrival in Pakistan on the first day.
Currency
All foreign tourists are charged in US Dollars (USD) while Pakistani tourists are charged in Pakistani Rupees (PKR).
Single Supplement
Separate hotel rooms (single supplement) will cost additional US$ 390. This includes all hotel nights. This payment should be made with the balance amount.
Separate tent (single tent) will cost additional US$ 160. This includes cost of additional porterage. This payment should be made with the balance amount upon arrival.
 

**Before requesting to register with us for this trip, we encourage intending participant that he/she should read and understand the following terms and conditions. Kindly note it, Do this tour at your own risk. For any query about the plan, please contact the mentioned contacts.

  • Reservations:
Reservations can be made by mailing. The Tour cost is strictly based on the itinerary and the total number of hotel and camp nights mentioned therein. If the trip has to be delayed due to bad weather, road washouts, canceled or delayed flights, sickness, Government restrictions or any other contingency for which “The Karakoram Ventures” cannot make provisions, the resulting extra cost for such delay is not included.
  • Form of payment:
Advance payment 30 % of the land cost for the booking confirmation will be accepted via online transfer or deposit to the Bank account of The Karakorum Ventures. Rest of the Payment only will be accepted only in cash or a certified cheque.
  • Cancellation & Refund:
Cancellation must be notified either by a phone call or by email to the mentioned email address of The Karakoram Ventures. Cancellation charges shall be levied as follows: 30 days before departure 25 % of the advance booking fee, 29 – 15 days before departure 50 % of the land cost, 14 to 1 day before departure 90% of the land cost. No refund will be given for any unused portion of the trip. The host reserves the right to cancel the trip without prior notice for any reasons deemed appropriate by them. In such a case the registered participants will receive a full refund.
  • Insurance:
Visitors are advised to get the insurance that covers cancellation, accidents, health emergency evacuation, helicopter rescue, and loss or damage of baggage and personal effects. This insurance must be arranged directly with your agent/insurance company.
  • Baggage:
Every member is entitled to bring a maximum weight of 15 kg (International clients) and 10 kg (national clients) of personal baggage. Any excess baggage portage will be charged separately.
  • Change of Itinerary:
Reasonable changes in the itinerary may be made only where deem advisable for the safety and comfort of the client.
  • Liability:
The Karakoram Ventures, its agents and employees will not be liable for any injury, death, damage, loss, accident, delay, theft, irregularity or acts of God, either by the acts of any company or person engaged in conducting the tour.
  • Responsibilities:
The Karakoram Ventures will provide transports, accommodations, meals and other necessary requirements which are mentioned in the tour itinerary.
  • Ethical Considerations:
Each participant should treat other Club member with respect, dignity, and honor. Use of violent behavior including altercation, insinuations of indecent kind, verbal and physical abuse and assault, aggravated behavior, or any other act amounting to unbecoming of member are strictly prohibited. Special respect for female members would be exercised. Sportsmen spirit shall be displayed at all times.
  • Drugs:
Using drugs or found party to drug sale or possession is strictly prohibited.
  • Team Work:
Our trip is expected to be an adventure trip and we will be camping using tents which will be erected with the help of the participants. All participants are expected to help each other to erect tents and to follow the instructions of Team Leader. It should be noted carefully that we will not use hotels for lodging until and unless we are facing unavoidable circumstances.
  • Cultural Considerations:
Photos and movies are permitted to be shot during our trip provided it is not objectionable to local people or any participant particularly females. These photos and movies are aimed for personal use only.
  • Environmental Care
All members would give due care for the local environmental care. Garbage (tins. Water bottles, wrappers, etc.) Shall be suitably disposed of without polluting water sources.
