We have gained a reputation for success on 8000m peaks; much is to do with the strength of support we put in place. On Gasherbrum, we add considerable strength to our team by our team of Pakistani high altitude porters who have already climbed the magnificent peak much time.

 

Accessibility to Spantik is relatively easy, yet the peak is still located in a far-flung area. Thanks to the easy access and its location in a safe atmosphere, Spantik has witnessed a rise in the number of expeditions attempting to summit her each year.

Getting to the Spantik base camp requires at least 3 days. You would see yourself trailing across a glacial system, and it is always judicious to stick with your guide if you want to arrive at the base camp safely. Despite the easy accessibility, the route to the summit of Spantik is reasonably difficult. You have to take the northwest face, also called the Golden Pillar, in order to get a toehold.

 

The good news is that out of all the expeditions to Spantik so far, 80 percent have summited it with success. However, your success relies heavily on your skills, fitness, acclimatization, weather condition and your propensity to go the extra mile.

Even though Spantik Peak is situated in Nagar Valley, yet the route to climb this beautiful and spectacular peak is from the Baltistan side. After your briefing at the Ministry of Tourism in Islamabad, we will arrange your flight to Skardu. You will then trek across the Chogolungma glacier before getting to the Spantik Peak base camp. The route to the 7027 meters Spantik Peak starts in the Arandu region of Baltistan, also known as Little Tibet.

Tour Plan

1

DAY 01: ARRIVAL AT ISLAMABAD

Arrival Islamabad today one of our staff will meet you at the airport and shift you to the hotel. Today either you can relax or you can enjoy an exploratory walk in the old part of Rawalpindi; wander past the vegetable and spice markets, beautifully carved old houses and trucks, cows pestering the vegetable vendors, catch traditional craftsmen at work in silver and gold bazaars. You can explore Shakar Parian and Shah Faisal Mosque. This evening you will enjoy a welcome dinner with other trekkers.

DAY 02: ISLAMABAD TO CHILAS / SKARDU

  • Total Duration: 12 Hours
  • OR Islamabad-Skardu via Air: (45mints)
We rise early to be at the airport in time for our flight to Skardu. If the weather is good, we'll be treated to one of the finest views available in the world of aviation, as we thread our way up the largest congregation of mountains of Karakoram, Hindu Kush, Himalaya and Indus River gorges, third longest in Asia and one of the deepest in the world. If the flight is unable to operate because of bad weather, we will resort to travel by road to Chilas. The drive is compensated by the beautiful scenery along highway and Indus gorges.

Day 03: CHILAS – SKARDU OR FREE DAY AT SKARDU

This day may be needed to complete the KKH road journey from Chilas to Skardu. Alternatively, leaving Skardu today will enable us to enjoy an extra day of trekking in Skardu.

DAY 04: SKARDU – ARANDU

  • Total Duration:       06 – 07 Hours
Today we rise early and view the beautiful sunrise against the backdrop of the Karakorum. After breakfast drive to Shigar, a history-soaked medieval town. An exciting jeep journey takes us through the fields of the Shigar Valley via Niali, Gulabpur, and Tissar. Enrooted visit Chutron hot spring and brief break at Chutron then we will move left where we will go side by side of Basha River to Arandu.

Day 05: ARANDU – CHOGO BRANGSA CAMP

  • Total Duration:       06 – 07 Hours
The first day of trekking along the Chogolungma glacier will take us to Chogo Brangsa in 5- 6 hours. After climbing onto the snout of the Chogolungma Glacier the path follows the grassy ablation valley on the northern side of the Glacier. (3,330m). Porters will carry food and equipment from Arandu to base camp.

Day 06:      CHOGO BRANGSA – BALUCHO

  • Total Duration:       07 – 08 Hours
Today’s trek, crossing two subsidiary glaciers to the campsite of Balucho Glacier, will be a long day of trekking, 7-8 hours walking along the northern side of Chogolungma glacier. (3,820m)

Day 07:      BALUCHO – SPANTIK B.C.

  • Total Duration:                         05 – 06 Hours
From Balucho a gentle gradient walk of 5-6 hours will lead us to the base of Spantik south East Ridge. 430. This day walking on the glacier in is normal as other days. It might take 6 hours to reach Spantik Base Camp

Day 08:     PREPARATION DAY

A day to sort out personal and group equipment and preparation for the climb. This day porters who were with us up to Base camp will return, 2 or staff will stay at base camp.

Day 09 - 29:     SPANTIK ASCENT DAYS

With up to 18-20 days to climb the peak (7027m), we have enough time to push up. We will establish three camps above base camp, camp 1 at 5,180m, camp 2 at 5,640m and camp 3 at 6,290m. Our experienced high altitude porters will supply the food for sufficient stock to all three camps.

Day 30:      SPANTIK B.C. – CHOGO BRANGSA CAMP

  • Total Duration:                         08 - 09 Hours
We will retrace the trekking trail down the Chogo Brangsa Camp (8-9hrs)

Day 31:      CHOGO BRANGSA CAMP – ARANDU

  • Total Duration:                      06 – 07 Hours
The second day further 6-8 hrs. the walk will take us to Arandu village.

DAY 32:    ARANDU – SKARDU

  • Total Duration:                         06 – 07 Hours
An early start from Arandu will get us to Skardu in time for a relaxing afternoon and shopping around. At the lunch place the is hot spring at Chutron, there is proper swimming pool for swimming and is very good for your tired body due to trekking and other activities. De- briefing at tourism office in Skardu.

DAY 33:     SKARDU – CHILAS/RAWALPINDI

Early in the morning fly to Islamabad, with clear skies, we will be able to board a plane and be back at our hotel in Islamabad in 45 minutes. If the weather is not so favorable and the flight doesn’t come, then we will have to drive the Karakoram Highway to Rawalpindi.

DAY 34:    CHILAS – RWP OR FREE DAY AT RWP

  • Total Duration:                         07 – 08 Hours
Upon arrival transfer to your hotel in Rawalpindi, Evening sightseeing. If unable to fly on day 33. This day will be used to transfer from Skardu to Islamabad by road. If you get a flight it will be an exploration day at Islamabad.

DAY 35:     DEPARTURE

Private transfer to Islamabad International Airport for your departure flight.

Trip booking procedure: Once you booked the desired Tour package with The Karakoram Ventures. We will sent you an email for the confirmation of you booking. After that we will sent you the detailed materials which will be really useful to understand even the minor details about your tour. You should have a passport at least valid for the next 6 months. The Karakoram venture will help you to get a Pakistani visa for that purpose you have to send us a Scanned image of your passport. We will sent you an invitation letter, addressing the nearest Pakistani Embassy. There are 2 different ways to apply for the tourist visa.
  1. The conventional way – Filling the visa form and submitting along with required documents in the nearest Pakistani Embassy or consulate.
  2. You can also fill the visa form Online at: https://visa.nadra.gov.pk/tourist-visa/ . You have to upload the required informations. It might take 8 – 10 working days.

Important Notes
Early Bird Discount
The given price for the trek is an early bird discount and will change after January. There will be an increase of US$ 80 every month after January. Our trekking holiday prices will not change once you have paid the deposit so the price when you book is the price you will pay. Register yourselves early to avoid increase in holiday prices. The given price for the trek is not negotiable unless you have a large private group.
Price discrimination
We strongly believe that foreign tourists should not pay more than locals. The reason for what may seem to be price discrimination is purely because of the additional and necessary services included as you will find under holiday information.
Deposit amount for Pakistani nationals
The deposit amount for Pakistani nationals is PKR 10,000 or 10% of total price, whichever is greater. The deposit amount is non-refundable and non-transferrable to other departures.
Refund policy
Deposit: Once paid, the deposit is non-refundable as it will be spent on making in-country arrangements. In case of visa rejection, a refund/partial-refund (if costs incurred) will be considered. In such cases, a valid proof of visa rejection must be submitted to our office within 72 hours of rejection. The deposit in non-refundable for Pakistani nationals in all cases.
Balance: Pay the balance amount on arrival in Pakistan on the first day.
Currency
All foreign tourists are charged in US Dollars (USD) while Pakistani tourists are charged in Pakistani Rupees (PKR).
Single Supplement
Separate hotel rooms (single supplement) will cost additional US$ 390. This includes all hotel nights. This payment should be made with the balance amount.
Separate tent (single tent) will cost additional US$ 160. This includes cost of additional porterage. This payment should be made with the balance amount upon arrival.
 

**Before requesting to register with us for this trip, we encourage intending participant that he/she should read and understand the following terms and conditions. Kindly note it, Do this tour at your own risk. For any query about the plan, please contact the mentioned contacts.

  • Reservations:
Reservations can be made by mailing. The Tour cost is strictly based on the itinerary and the total number of hotel and camp nights mentioned therein. If the trip has to be delayed due to bad weather, road washouts, canceled or delayed flights, sickness, Government restrictions or any other contingency for which “The Karakoram Ventures” cannot make provisions, the resulting extra cost for such delay is not included.
  • Form of payment:
Advance payment 30 % of the land cost for the booking confirmation will be accepted via online transfer or deposit to the Bank account of The Karakorum Ventures. Rest of the Payment only will be accepted only in cash or a certified cheque.
  • Cancellation & Refund:
Cancellation must be notified either by a phone call or by email to the mentioned email address of The Karakoram Ventures. Cancellation charges shall be levied as follows: 30 days before departure 25 % of the advance booking fee, 29 – 15 days before departure 50 % of the land cost, 14 to 1 day before departure 90% of the land cost. No refund will be given for any unused portion of the trip. The host reserves the right to cancel the trip without prior notice for any reasons deemed appropriate by them. In such a case the registered participants will receive a full refund.
  • Insurance:
Visitors are advised to get the insurance that covers cancellation, accidents, health emergency evacuation, helicopter rescue, and loss or damage of baggage and personal effects. This insurance must be arranged directly with your agent/insurance company.
  • Baggage:
Every member is entitled to bring a maximum weight of 15 kg (International clients) and 10 kg (national clients) of personal baggage. Any excess baggage portage will be charged separately.
  • Change of Itinerary:
Reasonable changes in the itinerary may be made only where deem advisable for the safety and comfort of the client.
  • Liability:
The Karakoram Ventures, its agents and employees will not be liable for any injury, death, damage, loss, accident, delay, theft, irregularity or acts of God, either by the acts of any company or person engaged in conducting the tour.
  • Responsibilities:
The Karakoram Ventures will provide transports, accommodations, meals and other necessary requirements which are mentioned in the tour itinerary.
  • Ethical Considerations:
Each participant should treat other Club member with respect, dignity, and honor. Use of violent behavior including altercation, insinuations of indecent kind, verbal and physical abuse and assault, aggravated behavior, or any other act amounting to unbecoming of member are strictly prohibited. Special respect for female members would be exercised. Sportsmen spirit shall be displayed at all times.
  • Drugs:
Using drugs or found party to drug sale or possession is strictly prohibited.
  • Team Work:
Our trip is expected to be an adventure trip and we will be camping using tents which will be erected with the help of the participants. All participants are expected to help each other to erect tents and to follow the instructions of Team Leader. It should be noted carefully that we will not use hotels for lodging until and unless we are facing unavoidable circumstances.
  • Cultural Considerations:
Photos and movies are permitted to be shot during our trip provided it is not objectionable to local people or any participant particularly females. These photos and movies are aimed for personal use only.
  • Environmental Care
All members would give due care for the local environmental care. Garbage (tins. Water bottles, wrappers, etc.) Shall be suitably disposed of without polluting water sources.
